Nam Dinh's grandest hotel of the 1920s, as it stands today
Few people know that in the middle of Nam Dinh there still stand the traces of a Vietnamese-owned hotel, the most luxurious in the city during the 1920s.
Hotel Nam Viet on Tong Van Tran street was once the emblem of a prosperous era for the city, when Nam Dinh was among the busiest industrial towns in the north.
More than a century on, moss has covered the old walls. But looking at the windows, the arches and the architectural details that remain, you can still sense something of the beauty of that golden age.
