BUSTLING TRIEU KHUC VILLAGE FESTIVAL IN HANOI
On the afternoon of February 25 (the 9th day of the first lunar month), the Trieu Khuc Village Festival in Thanh Liet Ward (Hanoi) took place in a solemn and lively atmosphere, attracting a large number of local residents and tourists.
It opened with traditional rituals such as offering incense, carrying royal decrees, performing sacrifices, and processing the palanquin of the tutelary god Bo Cai Dai Vuong Phung Hung back to the village communal house, expressing gratitude to the national hero.
The highlight of the festival is the con di danh bong performance – a unique folk dance associated with the legend of soldiers disguising themselves as women and wearing small drums to boost fighting morale. To the lively drumbeats, young men dressed in multi-layered traditional robes and charmingly made up perform movements that are both graceful and powerful, creating a vibrant atmosphere rich in cultural identity.
The festival is not only an occasion to commemorate the contributions of Bo Cai Dai Vuong Phung Hung but also contributes to preserving unique traditional cultural features in the heart of the Capital.
