Quan Lan 2 days 1 night review: Trip costs under 1 million VND
Located about 220 km from the center of Hanoi, Quan Lan Beach is one of the beaches that still retains its pristine, peaceful charm despite having developed tourism for a long time. The air here is extremely fresh and unpolluted compared to many other beaches. Long stretches of white sand and a coastline with gentle whispering waves bring a poetic beauty to this coastal region.
- Transportation:
Since I already live in Cam Pha, I only spent money on a taxi to Cai Rong Port, bought a ticket, and boarded the boat to the island right away. The ticket price is 200k VND/one way.
Alternatively, you can check out Xuan Truong sleeper bus: 200k VND/ticket, taking a bit over 4 hours overnight from Hanoi straight to Cai Rong Port.
- Transportation on the island: We chose to rent a motorbike for convenience and to explore every nook and cranny of the island. I rented a motorbike directly from the hotel for 150k VND/day.
Accommodation:
I booked a hotel room through the owner's child at Huong Diu Hotel. The room rate was 300k VND/day. The room was lovely with 2 beds, clean, and well-equipped with amenities; the owner's child helped us with our itinerary super enthusiastically and thoughtfully.
Dining: (Since it wasn't the peak tourist season, many restaurants and eateries were closed, so we chose to eat directly at the hotel)
+ For lunch, I ordered a meal right at Huong Diu restaurant owned by the host for 270k per meal, which included caramelized pork belly, fried eggs, and a super huge bowl of sour clam soup.
+ For dinner, we went out for fried rice and ordered a bowl of soup, totaling 120k VND/meal.
In addition, we bought some extra evening snacks to eat while watching movies because during the off-peak season, there weren't many places open to hang out at night.
Itinerary:
Day 1:
Morning: Around 7:00 AM, I arrived at Cai Rong Port, bought tickets, and took advantage of the time to snap some cool, pretty photos of the sunrise right at the port. At 7:30 AM, we boarded the boat and reached the island in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once on the island, the hotel's electric buggy picked us up to check in and shower, getting our spirits ready to explore the island. Around 9:30 AM, we started heading up to Infinity Hill where we ran into two guys preparing to go to Eo Gio (Windy Strait), so we asked to join them. The road up to Eo Gio wasn't as difficult as people reviewed, so feel free to ride straight up and lock the steering column to park below without paying extra fees. Then, around 12:00 PM, we returned to the hotel for lunch and a midday rest.
Afternoon: Around 2:30 PM, we set off to visit the following spots
- Two rows of casuarina trees
- River with double white sand banks
- Fairy Beach
- Robinson Beach
- Minh Chau Beach
- Minh Chau coastal road
All of the above spots are located along the same road with clear directional signs, so they are super easy to travel to and find. After visiting all these check-in spots, we went for dinner and returned to rest.
Day 2: Due to an unexpected matter for my friend, we couldn't explore more places as originally planned (which was to return at 12:30 PM the next day), so we had to reschedule to take the 7:00 AM boat.
In the morning, we still woke up at 6:00 AM, bought coffee, and went up to Infinity Hill to drink coffee and watch the sunrise here. (Infinity Hill is only about 1.3 km from my hotel. I feel that instead of catching the sunrise at Eo Gio, I recommend everyone head up to Infinity Hill. Super chill and lovely.)
Trip Review: Perhaps heaven heard the prayers of travelers earning a 5-million VND salary like me, because the weather was extremely beautiful. My top 4 must-visit places are: Infinity Hill – Eo Gio – Robinson Beach – Minh Chau coastal road.
And who is this trip suitable for?
Quan Lan Island is suitable for those seeking simplicity and wild, untouched nature that hasn't seen much commercial tourism development. Fresh air, clear blue ocean waters, and banks of white sand.
Thank you everyone for reading my post.
Wish you all a fun trip here!!!
