1-Day Travel Itinerary to Explore Su Pan
Morning
07:30 – 08:00: Depart from Sa Pa town center, traveling about 17 km to Su Pan village. On the way, you can stop to admire the scenery and take photos of the terraced fields in Muong Hoa Valley.
09:00 – 11:00: Trek around the village, visiting the homes of the H’Mong or Dao people. Learn about rammed-earth wall architecture, daily life, and customs. This is also a great time to try brocade weaving or watch locals craft silver items.
Midday
11:30 – 13:00: Have lunch at a homestay or a local home in the village. The menu usually features thang co, hill chicken, cap nach pork, wild vegetables, and corn wine. It is not only delicious but also rich in highland flavor.
Afternoon
13:30 – 15:30: Continue trekking to the most beautiful terraced fields in Su Pan. If you visit during the ripe rice season (September–October), you can admire golden hues stretching across the valley; during the watering season (May–June), the landscape sparkles with silvery reflections in the sunlight.
15:30 – 16:30: Visit local households selling brocade souvenirs, handbags, scarves, or handcrafted silver bracelets to buy gifts to bring home.
Evening
17:00: Return to Sa Pa town center. If you want to experience more, you can choose to stay overnight at a village homestay to gather around the hearth with a local family in the evening, enjoy corn wine, and listen to stories about their daily life and customs.
Suggestions:
Prepare trekking shoes or sports shoes for convenient walking.
Bring a light jacket as the village is usually chilly in the late afternoon and evening.
Respect local customs and ask for permission before taking photos of local people.
A 1-day itinerary in Su Pan will bring you a sense of peace, closeness to nature, and the opportunity to discover the unique culture of the H’Mong and Dao ethnic groups in the Northwest mountains.
