SCP-076: Able the Immortal - the ancient warrior who keeps returning inside a stone coffin

In the deepest sublevels of the SCP Foundation, where light almost never reaches, a stone coffin sits in silence. Inside is something researchers find both terrifying and impossible to forget: an ancient warrior who has died and returned countless times across thousands of years. He is called Able the Immortal, and his designation is SCP-076. He is among the most dangerous and most bloodthirsty entities ever recorded.

What is SCP-076?

SCP-076 consists of two linked parts. The first, SCP-076-1, is a large hollow cube of stone — a kind of coffin or tomb thought to be around ten thousand years old, found in the Ural mountains. The second, SCP-076-2, is the entity named "Able": a humanoid creature about two metres tall, of ancient origin and with the bearing of a born killer.

What makes SCP-076 frightening is not only strength but immortality. Each time he is destroyed, Able's body decomposes quickly, and after an interval of no fixed length he revives, whole, inside the stone coffin.

Object class: Keter

In the SCP Foundation system, every object is given an Object Class reflecting how hard it is to contain. SCP-076 is rated Keter — the highest danger level of the three basic classes. Keter does not mean "strongest" but "hardest to control": entities that actively try to break containment, cause casualties and pose a serious threat if they get out. With his killing instinct and his capacity to revive, Able thoroughly earns the Keter label.

Containment procedures

Because of the entity's immortality, the Foundation does not try to destroy him permanently but concentrates on confinement. The coffin, SCP-076-1, is placed in a reinforced chamber deep underground, sealed and monitored without pause. While Able is "dead", he lies still inside the coffin. But each time he wakes and tries to get out, the response team is ordered to neutralise him at any cost, accepting that he will only sleep for another stretch of time.

Weapons out of nothing

One of the most chilling abilities of SCP-076-2 is summoning bladed weapons out of a dark material that seems to come from his own body. Combined with speed, strength and agility far beyond human, Able can inflict appalling casualties in a matter of seconds.

Description and the chilling story

The lore around SCP-076 is tied to the ancient symbolism of two brothers: Abel and Cain. With each revival, Able carries no clear memory of the time before — only a primal rage and a craving to slaughter any living thing in sight. Staff who have witnessed him wake all describe the same sensation: a cold settling over the chamber, then the sound of stone cracking from inside the coffin. For the Foundation, the question is not "will Able wake again" but "when".
