What is SCP-5000?

The suit grants its wearer extraordinary abilities: invisibility, instant displacement, self-healing and the ability to slip past every Foundation sensor. The whole story is told in the first person by Dr Pietro Wilson — the man who built it himself and is now running alone.

Object class: Apollyon

In the SCP Foundation system most objects fall under Safe, Euclid or Keter. But Apollyon is a special class, rare and the most frightening of all. It is for anomalies that cannot be contained and will almost certainly lead to an end-of-the-world scenario. When a file carries the Apollyon label, it means the Foundation has tacitly admitted defeat, and the end of the world is only a matter of time.

Containment procedures

The most chilling thing about SCP-5000 sits right in the containment section: there essentially isn't one. The armour itself is not a threat that needs locking away — what is truly terrible is the secret it is running from. The file describes a world in which every ordinary protocol has collapsed, in which the Foundation itself becomes the executioner of the human race, and the wearer of the armour becomes the last witness.

Dr Wilson crosses a devastated United States, watching city after city swept clean. On that solitary journey he keeps encountering one haunting detail: small black insects crawling out of human bodies. Fragment by fragment, the memories and the notes he leaves for himself gradually reveal an appalling truth — perhaps humanity has not really been humanity for some time.

The question "Why?" never lets go: why is the Foundation doing this? Is it a mad genocide, or the last act to save reality from something worse than death? The deeper you go, the more you realise the SCP-5000 armour is not only a tool of survival but a symbol of one person's desperate need to understand the reason behind the end of the world.
