Ba Vi National Park was established under Decision No. 17-CT dated January 16, 1991, issued by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now the Government). Currently, the Park covers a total area of nearly 9,704.35 hectares, spanning the administrative boundaries of 16 communes across 5 districts: Ba Vi, Thach That, and Quoc Oai of Hanoi City, and Ky Son and Luong Son of Hoa Binh Province.

 Ba Vi Mountain has 3 peaks: King Peak at an altitude of 1,296m, Tan Vien Peak at 1,227m, and Ngoc Hoa Peak at 1,131m. According to the most recent survey, the flora and fauna of Ba Vi National Park are extremely rich and diverse, featuring 2,181 woody plant species, 503 medicinal plant species, 65 mammal species, 194 bird species, 61 reptile species, 27 amphibian species, and 552 insect species.
