A Peaceful Season on the Moc Chau Plateau

Ngày đăng:

Everywhere you look in this land, it is beautiful. Those timeless tea hills, whether lush green in spring or bare of leaves in winter, remain strangely enchanting.

I have lost count of how many times I have been to Moc Chau (Son La), but every single time, the feeling is crystal clear: I come to find a little peace after days of living in a rush.

I don't like traveling to this land by car; I prefer revving the throttle on an old beat-up motorbike, slowly crawling into the valley. I love the feeling of the biting cold air rushing against my face, my hands numb with cold, and wrapping my scarf loosely around my neck once more for warmth.

Moc Chau is always colder than other places. Crossing Thung Khe Pass into Son La province, the chill envelops you before you even realize it. The sky remains a deep, vibrant blue, the sunshine pours like honey, and the winding road climbs over blooming stretches of land.

There, white mustard flowers carpet the hillsides, filling the air with a pungent scent and the endless hum of bees, while archways bloom with brilliant orange-yellow wild sunflowers reaching toward the warm sun. There, plum orchards bloom white across the sky, with the joyful clamor of children playing beneath mossy, weathered plum trees.
There, tea hills curve endlessly around the plateau, with steep red-dirt roads stretching far into the distance, a vibrant fresh green glowing across tea hills high and low, and the rich scent of tea wafting across the plateau. There, after winding hairpin turns from one hill to the next valley, the landscape shifts continuously, revealing a different beauty around every bend.

Adorable local ethnic girls.

I could sit for hours taking in that peace without ever getting bored. As dawn breaks and dew drops still glisten on the branches, all creation lingers in a drowsy, misty haze. Grasshoppers, disturbed by footsteps in the grass, awaken from their autumn slumber and scatter in all directions.

The air is crisp and cool. Amidst the lush tea hills, sitting leisurely on the hillside, taking a sip of sweet, fragrant tea while watching the gentle sunrise afar. Sometimes, I wander aimlessly across fields covered in wildflowers, capturing fleeting moments of heaven, earth, and nature.
After the hustle and bustle of daily life, I always dream of stopping here every evening, listening to nightfall stepping into the valley, the soft sound of twilight fading as the day slowly draws to a close. My quiet sanctuary sinks into darkness, slow, fragrant, and serene.

Floating carpets of flowers.
When autumn comes, I return to Moc Chau to find peace in my soul, to wander tirelessly amidst pure nature and the warm, genuine smiles of the locals.
