Imagine walking into an ordinary furniture store to buy a bookcase, and then, as the glass door closes behind you, realising that you will never find the way out. That is the terror named SCP-3008 — "The Endless IKEA", one of the most haunting objects in the SCP Foundation universe.

What is SCP-3008?

SCP-3008 is a spatial anomaly hidden inside an ordinary shopping centre, taking the form of a furniture retail store identical to the well-known IKEA brand. From outside it is just a unit of finite floor area. But once you cross the threshold you are lost in a space that is vast to the point of being endless: rows of display shelves, showrooms, warehouse sections and signage stretching to the horizon, with no outer walls and no real ceiling.

Many people trapped inside The Endless IKEA report walking for days on end without ever reaching the edge of the store. Communities of survivors have formed inside, building "fortresses" out of cabinets and mattresses to hold out through each night.

Object class: Euclid

SCP-3008 is classified Object Class: Euclid. In the SCP Foundation system, the Euclid class covers anomalies whose behaviour is unpredictable and impossible to control fully — more dangerous than Safe, but not destructive to the degree of Keter. No one understands the rules operating inside this space, and no one can predict exactly how it will expand, so "Euclid" is the fitting name for its menacing uncertainty.

Containment procedures

Because the entrance to SCP-3008 sits inside a public shopping centre, the Foundation cannot move the object and can only isolate the way in and out. The store is disguised as "under renovation" or "permanently closed", with undercover staff on watch to stop civilians from wandering in by accident. All information about those who go missing inside is controlled and erased, in the Foundation's characteristic style.

Description and the chilling story

By day, SCP-3008 is eerily silent — only cold white fluorescent light and the echo of footsteps in endless corridors. But when the public address system announces "the store is now closed", the nightmare begins.

At night, entities called the "staff" appear: gaunt, misshapen humanoid figures with arms and legs too long and faces distorted beyond recognition, dressed in the yellow-and-blue uniform of shop assistants. They roam the store and attack anyone still moving, violently, repeating mechanical phrases like a broken tape. Those trapped inside must hide well, killing every light and sound until the announcement reopens the store.

Surviving in SCP-3008 is a brutal struggle: finding water, food from the restaurant area, building shelter, and hoping to be lucky enough to come across a real "Exit" door among countless false ones.

The story of The Endless IKEA unsettles readers because it turns a familiar place, one that feels safe, into a trap with no way out.
