SCP-1471 – MalO ver1.0.0: the haunted phone app and the skull-headed figure that shadows its victims
Some fears do not come from the dark of a deep forest or an abandoned house; they fit neatly inside the phone you hold in your hand every day. SCP-1471 is one of the most unsettling files in SCP Foundation: an app so harmless-looking that nobody suspects it, until a long-armed, skull-headed figure starts appearing in every photograph, and then steps out into the real world to watch you.
What is SCP-1471?
SCP-1471, going by the name MalO ver1.0.0, is a mobile phone application distributed across various app stores and download sites. It has no clear description and no identifiable developer, yet it keeps reappearing after being taken down. As soon as a user installs it, their phone begins to receive images of unknown origin showing an entity the Foundation has designated SCP-1471-A.
Object class: Euclid
SCP-1471 is classified Object Class: Euclid. In the SCP Foundation system, the Euclid class covers objects whose behaviour is erratic and not fully predictable, but not dangerous to the destructive degree of Keter. With SCP-1471 the unpredictability lies here: no one understands SCP-1471-A's purpose, and no one knows exactly what it wants from its victims.
Containment procedures
Because it is an application file spreading over the internet, containing SCP-1471 is all but impossible by ordinary physical means. The Foundation concentrates on monitoring app stores and sharing sites, removing every copy of MalO ver1.0.0 as soon as it is found. Individuals who have installed the app are placed under observation so the interaction between them and SCP-1471-A can be studied. Notably, no victim has ever suffered physical harm from this entity.
Description & the chilling story
SCP-1471-A appears as an enormous creature with an animal-like skull for a head, a pitch-black body and unusually long arms. At first it shows up only in the images sent to the victim's phone. Then, gradually, it creeps into every photograph the user takes — always standing behind them, indistinct but unmistakable.
The final stage is the genuinely frightening one: SCP-1471-A begins to appear in the real world, glimpsed at the corner of the eye, in mirrors, in a crowd. Strangely, only the victim can see it. Many reports suggest the entity seems to mirror the emotions of the person it haunts, like a silent shadow always present beside them — not attacking, not disappearing, simply there, forever.
Note: SCP-1471 and the whole SCP Foundation universe are community-created fiction (creepypasta / collaborative fiction). This is not a real event, and there is no "MalO ver1.0.0" app in real life. This article is only for entertainment and for exploring the world of horror fiction.
